Conjola Creek Bridge, Conjola, NSW
The construction of a 3 span 55m bridge and 1.4km of road approaches on the Princes Highway, south of Nowra. With the existing bridge built on sub-standard horizontal and vertical alignment with no shoulders or safe passage for vehicles passing each other, this contract required a significantly different replacement bridge to be constructed. The new bridge deck structure consists of prestressed precast girders while the piers and abutments are supported on ‘cast-in-place’ piled foundations. Works were carried out with the minimum disturbance of an identified environmentally sensitive zone, coupled with the need to provide continuous traffic flow during all phases of deconstruction and reconstruction along the busy Princes Highway.
